چکیده

Highly nonlinear behaviour of a system of discrete sites on a lattice is observed when a specific feedback loop is introduced into models employing quantum cellular automata [1] or their real-valued analogues. It is shown that the combination of two operations, i.e. i) enhancement of a site’s value when fulfilling a feedback condition and ii) normalization of the system after each time step, produces relatively short-lived spatiotemporal patterns whose mean lifetime can be considered as emergent order parameter of the system. This mean lifetime obeys a scaling law involving a control parameter which tunes the“fault tolerance”of the feedback condition. Thus, within appropriate ranges of the systems variables, the dynamical properties can be characterized by a “fractal evolution dimension” (as opposed to a “fractal dimension”).

Fractal Population Ecology Theory

Abstract Purpose - The aim of this paper is to describe the population ecology theory through fractal thinking, an emergent human operating system that is creative, adaptive, healthy, and evolutionary; furthermore, a parallel is drawn between the population ecology model and the fractal structure. Top-down hierarchies are typically characterized by command and control systems of the authority t...

Believable Visual Feedback in Motor Learning Using Occlusion-based Clipping in Video Mapping

Gait rehabilitation systems provide patients with guidance and feedback that assist them to better perform the rehabilitation tasks. Real-time feedback can guide users to correct their movements. Research has shown that the quality of feedback is crucial to enhance motor learning in physical rehabilitation. Common feedback systems based on virtual reality present interactive feedback in a monit...

Sandpile Model for Relaxation in Complex Systems

The relaxation in complex systems is in general nonexponential. After an initial rapid decay the system relaxes slowly following a long time tail. In the present paper a sandpile modelation of the relaxation in complex systems is analysed. Complexity is introduced by a process of avalanches in the Bethe lattice and a feedback mechanism which leads to slower decay with increasing time. In this w...

Improving security of double random phase encoding with chaos theory using fractal images

This study presents a new method based on the combination of cryptography and information hiding methods. Firstly, the image is encoded by the Double Random Phase Encoding (DRPE) technique. The real and imaginary parts of the encoded image are subsequently embedded into an enlarged normalized host image. DRPE demands two random phase mask keys to decode the decrypted image at the destination. T...

A Simple Model for the Evolution of Evolution

A simple model of macroevolution is proposed exhibiting both the property of punctuated equilibrium and the dynamics of potentialities for different species to evolve towards increasingly higher complexity. It is based on the phenomenon of fractal evolution which has been shown to constitute a fundamental property of nonlinear discretized systems with one memoryor random-based feedback loop. Th...
